In 1887, our great-grandparents, Sam and Sarah Shapiro, opened a horse auction mart in Newburgh, New York. That small family business would grow, change with the times, and eventually become the Shapiro’s Furniture people know today.
In 1938, the family began selling used furniture, and by 1952, Shapiro’s had grown into a full-service furniture store serving families throughout the Hudson Valley.
Five generations later, we’re still family-owned and still right here in Newburgh.
Today, our 30,000-square-foot showroom features furniture and mattresses from many of the industry’s best-known brands. But the part of Shapiro’s we’re proudest of isn’t the size of our showroom or how long we’ve been here. It’s how we treat people.
